Job Description: Sanitation Supervisor
Job Summary:
Supervise and coordinate plant sanitation operations to ensure compliance with company, local, state, and federal regulations. Directly oversee a team of 10-20 employees in the Sanitation department, providing training, guidance, and support. Maintain a high standard of sanitation in accordance with food manufacturing protocols while fostering a culture of safety and efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance and Safety:
- Promptly report any equipment malfunctions to maintenance.
- Identify and install or report any machine guards that are improperly secured or missing.
- Ensure timely accident and safety reporting in accordance with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Supervision and Training:
- Manage daily tasks of subordinates to ensure timely completion while upholding food safety and quality standards.
- Review daily task completions and verify sanitary conditions.
- Provide discipline as necessary, adhering to company, union, and regulatory rules.
- Offer training and advancement recommendations for team members.
- Assist in conducting performance reviews and addressing employee concerns.
- Scheduling and Compliance:
- Manage vacation and time-off requests at the direction of the sanitation manager to maintain coverage without compromising standards.
- Assist in maintaining medical documentation for personnel in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Assist manager with monitoring attendance and enforcing company policies.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure sanitation practices meet company, union, city, state, and federal guidelines.
- Adhere to OSHA standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Safety, and HACCP policies.
- Collaborate with other supervisors to maintain a cohesive operation.
Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- A 4-year degree in business management or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Sanitation or food safety experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Microsoft Office (required) and Paycor application experience (not required).
- Able to work flexible or extended hours as directed by business needs, including weekends
- Strong communication, teaching, and coaching skills.
- Open to learning new skills
- Good mechanical or technical skills
- Task orientated and strong analytical skills
Physical Environment:
- Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to, but not limited to, 75 pounds.
- Ability to climb a ladder.
- Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle and operate controls, tools, and machinery.
- Work in high heat and/or cold temperatures.
